By train, bus, or car

Two trains an hour from Bristol Temple Meads, about half an hour. Direct services from Cardiff and Taunton. Around twenty minutes on foot from Weston-super-Mare station, or a short bus or taxi ride. Driving, come off the M5 at junction 21 and head for the seafront.

Parking

Nearby parking

Nearby parking including Melrose Car Park on Knightstone Road, BS23 2BE, right behind the plaza. Knightstone Causeway Car Park, BS23 2AD, is the smaller one just along from it. Both are pay and display.

Prices

£10 communal all summer

Until Monday 31 August, communal sessions are £10 with code TOOHOT. Sounds backwards in a heatwave — but scientists say regular sauna use trains your body to handle the heat. Saunas are normally from £14, and regulars save up to 50 per cent on every session with a membership. Live prices are always on the booking page.

The setting

On the seafront

A spot on the Marine Lake Plaza, looking out over the lake and the Bristol Channel beyond. Beach, pier, and town a few minutes away.

The sauna

Wood-fired sauna on the plaza

Wood-fired sauna looking out over the water, with everything you need for the session on the plaza. There is a cold water outdoor shower on the seafront nearby to rinse off after.

Free sauna sessions are available here through social prescribing, for people referred by link workers, GPs, and community professionals. More on how it works →

Before you come

The things people ask.

Where exactly are you?

Marine Lake Plaza, Knightstone Road, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 2BE. North end of the seafront, beside the lake, near the RNLI building. what3words: events.taken.plant.

Where do I park?

Nearby parking including Melrose Car Park on Knightstone Road, BS23 2BE, right behind us. Knightstone Causeway Car Park, BS23 2AD, is the smaller one just along from it. Both are pay and display.

Can I get here without a car?

Yes, and it is often easier. Two trains an hour from Bristol Temple Meads take about half an hour, then it is around twenty minutes on foot along the seafront. There are direct services from Cardiff and Taunton too.

How much is it?

Saunas start at £14. If you come regularly a membership works out much cheaper, taking up to 50 per cent off every session. Live prices are always on the booking page.

When are you open?

Opening days change with the season, so the booking page and our Google profile are the place to check. Both are always current.

How hot is the sauna?

Between 70 and 100 degrees, aiming for around 90. It is a live wood fire, so the temperature moves.

What do I bring?

Two towels, one to sit on and one to dry with. Swimwear with no metal fasteners, because metal gets hot. Footwear for outside. At least a litre of water each. A change of clothes and a bag for wet things. Please shower before you arrive.

Is there a shower?

There is a cold water outdoor shower on the seafront nearby to rinse off after. It is a public seafront shower rather than ours.

Do you run in the rain?

Yes. We run in most weather and only stop for conditions that are genuinely unsafe.

Can I turn up without booking?

You are welcome to, and we will fit you in if there is space and once you have filled in a short form. Sessions do fill up, so booking is safer.

Can children come?

Under 16s can use the sauna in a private session with a responsible adult present throughout.

The sauna sits on the plaza beside Marine Lake. Marine Lake is a public tidal lake managed by others, not by You Can Sauna, and the sea beyond it is public water. You Can Sauna does not own, control, manage, supervise, or facilitate access to either, and they are not part of the You Can Sauna experience. Any decision to enter the water is made independently by guests and is entirely at their own risk.

Tides and conditions can change without warning. If you are thinking of entering any open water, please read the RNLI water safety guidance and the British Sauna Society's guidance on combining sauna and cold water first.
