Sauna guest terms & conditions

Before Arriving at the Sauna

Have a shower before you get there (trust us, this makes it nicer for everyone).

Bring two towels (one for sitting in the sauna, one for drying off afterwards).

Come with swimwear to wear in the sauna (we’d suggest coming wearing this or with it under your clothes to get into the sauna faster). Don’t wear anything with metal fasteners as this will heat up in the extreme heat of the sauna and can cause scalding or burns.

Remember suitable footwear for when you’re outside the sauna.

Make sure you have plenty of water (we recommend at least one litre per person).

Bring a change of clothes + a waterproof bag for your wet items.

Safety + Etiquette

By making a booking, all guests are committing to agree to the following health, safety, and behaviour conditions.

It is your responsibility to follow these conditions.

Note that if you are booking on behalf of others, it is your responsibility to make them aware of the health, safety, and behaviour conditions and ensure they all use the sauna safely. Please also make the others aware of what they need to bring and do before attending the sauna.

Saunas and cold plunges carry inherent risks. Please use them responsibly, follow our guest guidance and any instructions from our hosts, and listen to your body, stopping if you feel unwell. If you have any medical condition, or are unsure whether sauna or cold immersion is safe for you, please consult your doctor before your visit.

At several of our sites there is open water nearby, such as a river or the sea. This open water is a public natural environment. You Can Sauna does not own, control, manage, supervise, or facilitate access to it, and it is not part of the You Can Sauna experience. Any decision to go near or enter the water is made independently by guests and is entirely at their own risk. Water depth, temperature, currents, and conditions can change without warning. If you choose to enter open water, please read the safety guidance from the RNLI and the Royal Life Saving Society before your visit, and the British Sauna Society's guidance, produced with the RNLI, on safely combining sauna and cold water: https://www.britishsaunasociety.org.uk/sauna-cold-water-safety

General Safety

  • Don’t attend the sauna if you are currently unwell, especially if you are contagious.

  • Consult your doctor before using saunas or cold plunges if you have any medical conditions that could pose a health risk, including (but not limited to):

  • High or low blood pressure

  • Heart or circulatory disorders

  • Epilepsy or diabetes

  • Any wounds, especially following surgery

  • Any conditions interfering with your ability to sweat

  • Pregnancy or are planning to become pregnant

  • Stay hydrated. But, remember the water in the cold plunge is not drinking water!

  • Avoid alcohol and drugs before and during sauna use (and avoid when hungover). For the guests own safety, staff will refuse entry to guests believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

  • Remove all jewellery (and glasses if possible) to prevent burns. Contact lenses can also become uncomfortable so we also recommend not wearing these in the sauna.

  • Enter and exit the sauna with care. Be careful as you come up and down the steps into and out of the sauna to avoid tripping and avoid the stove on entry/exit.

  • Remember our sites are natural environments! At a forest site, please remember any long grass around the site may have unstable footing and things like ticks so please be careful.

  • Never touch the stove, stove door, chimney, rocks, or fire guards - they are really hot and will burn you! Never try to feed the fire, staff will do that.

  • When pouring water on the rocks, use the provided ladle and water and pour a reasonable amount of water slowly. Start from the point furthest away from you to prevent the steam scalding you.

  • Limit sauna sessions to 15-20 minutes - and that isn’t a target! When using the sauna or cold plunges listen to your body and leave immediately if you feel uncomfortable, dizzy, lightheaded, or nauseous.

  • Enter the cold plunge gradually and carefully, leaving a bit of time to cool down before entering after the sauna. Make sure you can tolerate the cold temperature and ensure someone is with you while you are in the plunge.

  • If you have any relevant allergies please inform the sauna host and make sure to check the packaging and ingredients of any of the available products (such as the free electrolyte concentrate or pre-packaged drinks) to be sure they are safe for you before accepting, purchasing, or consuming them.

  • Children under the age of 16 are not permitted to use the sauna, except for in private bookings. In a private booking, children under the age of 16 are permitted to use the sauna but must be with a designated responsible adult (confirmed with us in the T&Cs) who is with the child at all times. Due to insurance terms, no under 16’s are allowed to use the cold plunges or showers.

  • Be aware that although there are security cameras on the site, CCTV only operates outside of the sauna’s hours of operation for site safety during its unstaffed hours. You can also view our privacy policy here.

Sauna Etiquette

Shower before coming to the sauna.

Sit on a clean towel in the sauna and remove shoes before entering.

Respect others' personal space and right to peace

Don't stare at or comment on others' bodies or tattoos

Ask for consent before taking any photographs, and treat the sauna as an electronics free zone

Never bring your own essential oils or products into the sauna (they can cause allergic reactions). Don’t bring food or drinks (other than water in sauna safe bottles) in either

Generally just be nice!

Cancellations

Refunds or free rescheduling to another available session are provided if you give us at least 72 hours notice. Refunds will be issued minus payment processor fees (1.5-3% depending on order value) as Stripe doesn’t refund these so otherwise we lose money on every refund, full value sauna credit is also available as an alternative.

After 72 hours, we cannot offer refunds or to reschedule appointments unless we are able to rebook your sessions.

No shows are always charged full price.

Private booking cancellations require 5 days (120) hours notice for a full refund or rescheduling as they are more difficult for us to rebook.

As events involve a third-party coming to the site to run a specific activity, such as a sauna ritual, all ticket sales for these are final and cannot be rescheduled or refunded (unless we are able to rebook the tickets - which we will always try our best to do).

Sessions cannot be refunded or rescheduled after 72 hours for bad weather (in fact, we love a sauna in the rain, cold, and wind). However, if weather conditions mean we cannot operate safely then all appointments will, of course, be rescheduled.
