After a long walk, a run, or a day exploring the moor, there is nothing quite like sinking into a wood-fired sauna and then taking the plunge into cold water. The heat draws out the ache in your legs. The cold snaps you back to life. It is contrast therapy at its most elemental.
Haldon Forest sits right on the eastern edge of Dartmoor, just off the A38. If you are coming from Bovey Tracey, the gateway to the moor, it is around 20 minutes. From Moretonhampstead it is around 25. From Ashburton, roughly 30. Close enough to make it a natural part of your Dartmoor day, far enough to feel like a proper destination in its own right.
Real wood fire
Built by artisans in Latvia using heat-treated thermowood. A Harvia wood-fired heater that hits proper sauna temperatures.
Cold plunge
True contrast therapy. Cold plunge pools on site for the full hot-cold cycle that leaves you feeling incredible after a hard day outside.
Forest setting
3,500 acres of ancient woodland, managed by Forestry England. The same off-grid feeling as the moor, with warmth added.
Private or communal
Book a private session for your walking or running group, or join a communal session. Both work equally well after a day outdoors.
