Reopening Saturday 15 August

We've moved from Haldon Forest Park to a new spot a few minutes down the road at Mamhead, which helps protect Haldon's ecology. We reopen at Mamhead on Saturday 15 August; everything below is for the new Mamhead site.

Getting here

Off the A380 at Telegraph Hill

Head for the Mamhead (Forestry England) car park, EX6 8HX. Off the A380, turn towards Mamhead and Starcross at the top of Telegraph Hill, take the first right, and the car park is about half a mile along on the left. Google Maps directions to the car park →

On site

Off-grid, so come prepared

Mamhead is a proper off-grid forest site: no running water, no drinking water, and no showers. Please come showered, and bring plenty of water (at least a litre each). There's a portaloo for emergencies and a water bowser for cooling off. We have electrolytes for your bottle, a free cup of From Trees tea for every guest, and sauna hats to borrow.

The experience

Wood-fired heat and cold plunge

A traditional wood-fired sauna built by Baltic experts, run between 70 and 100 degrees (we target 90, but it's a live fire), with several cold plunges for the hot-cold contrast and a fire pit outside for between rounds.

Nearest towns

Exeter, Newton Abbot, Torquay

Around 30 minutes from Totnes, Dartington, and Teignmouth. Easy to reach from most of South and East Devon.

Free sauna sessions are available here through social prescribing, for people referred by link workers, GPs, and community professionals. More on how it works →
